TSTC in New Braunfels - Building Construction Preview
Description
This event is designed for incoming 26/FA Building Construction Technology students to get a firsthand look at their upcoming program experience. Students will meet BCT faculty, explore the lab environment, participate in demonstrations, observe hands-on training, and learn more about the tools, skills, and expectations of the program. This event provides an opportunity to connect with instructors and classmates while preparing for success as a BCT student.
Arrival Information
Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for parking, check-in, and getting settled before the event begins. We will begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
Before You Arrive: Required Safety Attire
To participate in BCT Preview Day activities, students must arrive prepared with the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE helps keep students safe while they experience the hands-on learning environment of the BCT program.
Students must wear:
- Closed-toed, hard-soled shoes (no tennis shoes or sandals)
- Long pants
We will provide:
- Safety glasses
- Safety vests
Preview Day Schedule
8:00 AM | Check-In & Breakfast/Coffee
Students will check in and have the opportunity to meet BCT faculty, staff, and other incoming students while enjoying breakfast and coffee.
8:30 AM | BCT Lab Experience
Students will transition to the BCT Lab for a program introduction, safety overview, and hands-on demonstrations. Students will learn about lab expectations, view equipment demonstrations, and see examples of the tools and materials used throughout the program. A sample tool kit will be available to help students understand what they will need as BCT students.
Following Lab Experience | Class Shadow & Hands-On Observation
Students will move outside to observe a current BCT class and experience the type of hands-on training provided in the program. Students will have the opportunity to see construction activities in action and ask questions about the student experience.
Event Conclusion | Questions & Connections
Students will have time to connect with BCT faculty, ask questions, and learn more about the program, courses, and career opportunities.

- When should I arrive?

BCT will provide safety glasses and safety vests for the event.
- Do I need to bring tools?
No. Students do not need to bring tools for Preview Day. We will provide information about the tools and supplies needed for the program and show examples of student tool kits.
- Can I bring a guest?
Yes, guests are welcome to attend. We will have a designated guest area available for family members and supporters during the event. Please include your guest information on the RSVP form so we can prepare for attendance.
